Glenn,

That link doesn't work...did I not get to it soon enough? Do you still have other video files available to members with > 30 posts?

Thanks for your post! I am relearning my positions...still pretty much stuck in 1st position. I do not have a violin teacher currently, I am instead buying lessons for my daughter. So I have been battling learning the positions again all by myself. Have you found certain exercises more helpful than...

I recently found a great site where you can download many public domain music scores. I am using some of the resources here to improve my skills. There are also midi files so you can hear the tune as well. Mutiopia Project I remember playing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3 in school many years ago. ...

Those are great pointers for shifting...I appreciate you posting them. When I quit playing the Violin in 1984 I was just moving in to 3rd and 5th positions. Now after picking it up 20 years later I am now starting to learn the positions all over again. :oth26: I am going to start a new Topic under ...

Is there any interest by those who play the violin to discuss what (VM songs or not) they are working on or how they have observed Vanessa-Mae's techniques and incorporated them in their own playing?

If there is interest, I will start a thread and maybe we can help each other.

A friend was looking for versions of "Classical Gas" and came across her version. He liked it and knew that I play the violin and shared it with me.

I started doing searches on her name and found many websites including this one!

Yes, it is very sad that this wasn't even mentioned on her "official" (not EMI) website. She has been marketed so well that it feels like she is in a big hole right now with NO information on upcoming releases or performances. :(

That is a good point...a violin teacher will have good resources and know of reputable dealers. Don't be afraid of buying a used instrument...its not like buying someone's old shoes. If an instrument is taken care of it can acually APPRECIATE in value. Newer is not always better. A violin teacher ma...
