Don't forget...

... Vanessa-Mae has been using a metallic gray Zeta Jazz Fusion violin since 2001. I got that information from Gregg at Zeta Music Systems - he's the CEO and a good friend of mine, and he made my translucent red Jazz Fusion for me. She has not used the white in some time.

The electric violin...

...is not soulless! I can understand that if Vanessa-Mae prefers a violin with a more classical touch and organic, resonating feel to its tone, that she would use her acoustic violin, which is equipped with a small mic (the brand of which I STILL cannot figure out!) that draws the sound from the bas...

For me this forum is not relevant anymore. I will bring down my involvement in these boards. For any news about Vanessa-Mae, see my website. I remain dedicated to Vanessa-Mae and will keep my site up-to-date with news, ideas, reviews, photos and many more. I don't think you should leave. You are an...

About any rumours of 'misunderstandings' between Vanessa-Mae and others. We don't know if they are true; we do not have the details and certainly not equally communicated stories from both sides. We can not, and should not judge. But bear in mind, Vanessa-Mae is of flesh and blood with good and bad...

Personally, Subject to Change is probably one of my favorite albums of Vanessa-Mae's. It felt very original and it felt like it came from her. If this is the sound she's talking about, whether she uses her acoustic or electric violin, I'll be looking forward to it.

Why must she continue miming!? That girl is so talented - she doesn't need to pretend. The Ted Brewer violin wasn't even plugged in. How disappointing.

Actually, VM usually uses two different violins in concert. She uses her Guadagnini acoustic violin, which is fitted with a microphone that feeds into the f-hole of the instrument. This seems to achieve a natural sound. Then for her "electric" songs, she uses a Zeta Jazz Fusion 4-string vi...

She has shown me how to incorporate flowing, beautiful, melodic lines into fast paced songs - when done right, it's beautiful, especially building up to a more aggressive melody or solo.

Even if Vanessa-Mae decides to take an extended sabbatical from the world stage, even if not permanent, let's remember that there is a new generation of wonderful young female violinists (don't forget us boys too) who are taking the stage - and no, I'm not talking about BOND or WILD. Vanessa-Mae's t...

To expand on my earlier possible explanation - someone as young as Vanessa-Mae being thrown into the limelight and fast-paced lifestyle (she became professional at 11 or 12, she said in an interview) can burn out easily while doing this at such a young age. Sure, music is her passion, but this kind ...

Ot perhaps, 'I Still Can Hear Your Voice' by Vanessa-Mae and JD. I've seen them once in a German television show: JD smiles a lot but is not fat, there were dancers indeed, moreover JD is not real black I think. Besides this one and eva's suggestion, I can't think of anything else. JD is not black ...

There is another artist that comes to mind when I think of this situation, and that would be Yanni, the Greek-born adult contemporary (new age) keyboardist/composer/orchestra leader. His worldwide smash debut Live at the Acropolis (with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra out of London) hurled him into...

Our (Vanessa-Mae's and my) violins from ZETA (update!)

So I received my new Jazz Fusion 5-string violin from Zeta last week... It is of a lightweight basswood construction with a maple top, and the entirety of the instrument (including the neck) is finished in translucent red. There's a picture on my website, http://www.omarlopezmusic.com/gear.html I us...
