I agree! When Pamela managed VM, she was playing/touring a heck of a lot more. I saw her twice here in the states around the release of The Violin Player and Storm. No major US dates (if any) since then, especially from "Tour for Change" or "Choreography", which is all AWESOME mu...

I'll have to say again - she's incredibly talented, but I wish she wouldn't mime on every television talkshow appearance she does. Her violin wasn't mic'ed or even plugged in. I know she can do it live... I've seen it. I wonder why she continues not to in some cases. *sigh*

VM's Royal Albert Hall concert review from soundgenerator

This guy was NOT nice. Seemed to be pretty unforgiving of her being forced to play her Zeta since her acoustic was having microphone problems. I think he needs to listen to a bit more classical crossover (Bond, The Planets, OMAR LOPEZ - haha!) before he makes any more glaring remarks and cutdowns ab...

Poor Vanessa-Mae. As talented and beautiful and kind as she is, I guess she is still very trusting and a bit naive to the evils of our world, however it is apparent that she has gone through some personal and musical growth in the past several years since splitting from her management and from her m...

well i would say its a barcus berry (or however thats spelled) but im not sure Thanks Twyla. Barcus-Berry, however, is a violin pickup which clamps onto the bridge and generates a very harsh, cruddy tone... VM's is a microphone which rests over the bass side f-hole on her violin and sounds very cle...

Vanessa-Mae's violin microphone

Hi there - Rijko and friends - it's been a while since I've been online... but I'm glad to be back. I noticed Rijko's beautiful pictures of VM's most recent performances commemorating the release of Choreography. In some pictures, she is using her gray/silver Zeta Jazz Fusion violin, but in others, ...

In regards to the ZETA, and YAMAHA Phoenix - What do you mean if u want the violin you have to buy other instruments? Are u referring to the Synthony II? Thats not mandatory, it is only for MIDI recording/playing. As far as the Yamaha...that violin isn't the best choice when considering electrics. ...

I first heard this rumor over 3 years ago. But you must say it sure does sound like Vanessa's style of play with the same zeta violin trademark tone. Glenn I know this has been covered before, but I know that since she appears so much with her electric violin, I wanted to clarify something about th...

I don't know how it is in the world of violins, but for guitars a "signature" model is significantly different from a standard production model. For example, the Ritchie Blackmore signature strat is a design that previously wasn't available because Blackmore had customised a basic stratoc...

Benji said: "As for her using the ZETA jazz acoustic model. I agree that it wasn't her idea of start using an electric violin, but it surely is hers to keep it going. Imagine the surprise of most classical purists when she pulled out her ZETA to play Red Hot at a *classical* concert." Act...

I read your biography on your site the other day, so I just have a few questions: Can you give us more details on your classical background? What made you to think "outside of the box" start playing other genres of music with your violin? Do you plan on have a dual career as a pop/jazz/et...

Benji - "It's rather odd that ZETA still doesn't have a Vanessa-Mae signature series violin for the Jazz Fusion model ... none of the violinists on their site are nearly as popular as she is." In all fairness and with no intention of offending you, Benji, I'll beg to differ. In speaking w...

Guys, I have no problems with talking about miming. I have a problem with name calling and hostility, which I felt in that thread. If the topic of miming will always result in hostility towards each other in the end, then maybe it's best to leave it. Do we have anything new to say in regards to tha...

I looked at the Zucchero fan site "Ask Boris" (http://www.unpodizucchero.net/askboris.html) and saw the girl who many had confused to be Vanessa-Mae.

Her name is Jenny Bae, and she is from Seoul, South Korea. She is very pretty, but she's not our Vanessa! -Omar

I watched the video of VM at the opening of the CBA's where she performed "Bach Street Prelude" and she wasn't using her Zeta or her Ted Brewer, but an acoustic violin. However, I don't think it was "Gizmo" and I know she was playing live, as was her three piece band (same size ...
