Good attitude! I was grateful Vanessa mae posted the sheet music to some of her songs on her website so I can follow along and see the music as she plays that will be helpful for learning some of the songs.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Great, how long have you played? I am picking it back up with my daughter after I took a 15 year leave from it. I wish I hadn't waited so long. I sure enjoy it though!

Jean-Luc Ponty's music is almost all electric violin and has quite a modern sound...quite abit is very up tempo. Technically, he is very proficient as is Vanessa Mae, I marvel at the talent and expertise these people have developed in such a difficult instrument.

Is anyone here a fan of Jean-Luc Ponty? I grew up listening to some of his albums. It is a new age/jazz/techno sound (don't hold me to my definitions! :D )

Here is a link to some samples from an album on Amazon

What about the http://www.vanessamae.com/ page...is that her's (not EMI's). It has great features and I love the sheet music that she provides, but some of the information regarding albums and tours seems out of date too. :hypnotized:

I'm surprised there are not more people who play here. But it is great to see someone like Vanessa Mae take what is sometimes viewed as a "stuffy" instrument and show how fun it can be.

Is her official website updated regularly? It seems that would be the perfect vehicle for giving us updates, but alot of what is there seems to be old news.

:user: I guess it is time for me to add myself to the official newbies thread. I don't know the age groups of people here but I am 36...does that make me old or young? :D The way I found out about Vanessa Mae was actually through a friend who was searching the internet for "classical Gas"....

But do be careful,.. there are VCD's that are being sold on eBay that are being called DVD's, but they are not. Also there are many DVD's (especially in HK ...

Does anyone know anywhere that I can find the Red Hot Tour (concert at Royal Albert Hall) on DVD that will play on American DVD players?

I can only find it on Ebay and hesitate because I haven't bought anything through an auction yet.

Thanks. :banghead:
