Dearest Vanessa-Mae,

A VERY HAPPY 29th BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! WE ALL LOVE YOU AND WE WISH YOU A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

‘The Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum’ at http://forum.vanessamae.org wish you all the best on the occasion of your 29th birthday. We hope that you enjoy a fantastic day with Lionel, of course Gaspard, family and close friends - make this day your day!!

Considering our present to you this year, we came to realise that it is difficult for us to give you anything that has special meaning or value to you, other than something that offers a symbolic expression of our love, care and fascination for you as person and as musician.

We know that you participated in various charity events and that you play a role in the International Committee of The Red Cross, The ICRC, and performed in free concerts to raise funds. Obviously, your involvement in charity is close to your heart.

Therefore, we offer you a short list of various international charity organisations that are close to the hearts of the contributors of this years project in name of your 29th birthday, and to which we donate money in frequencies and amounts according our individual financial means. Moreover, we provide you a document as ‘The Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum Charity Award’ to praise the personal contribution that you’ve made to several events to raise money in order to support those who need help.

Both the award and list can be found in this dossier following this letter.

After the award and list follow 10 questions that we have for you. We truly hope that you will again be so kind to provide us feedback with your answers and comments to these issues.

Also in the dossier, you will find the names of all contributors to this year’s birthday present, as well as various birthday greeting cards. I ask your specific attention for the card in the format of a photo showing a group of fans from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Jorge, Guillermo, Paula, Jose Luis and Pablo frequently organise a meeting somewhere in Buenos Aires to talk as a group about you and your music, exchange ideas and to keep the hope alive for them to ever see you live in concert.

Dearest Vanessa-Mae, since you became 22 in the year 2000, we from ‘The Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum’ made it a tradition to send you birthday cards and some presents. We are grateful for your kindness to accept our attentions and provide us with your feedback to our list of questions that we included in our gifts each year again.

The occasion of your birthday is our only opportunity to show you our dedication and love for you, as we definitely respect your quest for the privacy as a normal person. Being down-to-earth and the quest for privacy despite all your successes is something that we admire.

Anyway, our presents are all about expressing our love and care for you.

Dearest Vanessa-Mae, please comment on the following issues:

1 Can you give us an update on the progress of your new album? Do you have a title already; is there a release date unknown? Will it be available in the USA and Canada as well?

2 Are you planning a tour for the new album already? Will the dates be available at your official website? Will the tour include dates in the UK too? Since for the Choreography tour you only did two concerts in the UK!

3 Do you consider the release of a tour DVD of your next tour? As your fans, we would definitely appreciate this since it is on the top of our wish list!

4 We have read in The Telegraph that you have finished your autobiography. Is this true and when will the book being published?

5 Recently you visited India for the first time to do 3 concerts! In the MSN video interview you told us that you were looking forward to going to India one day because you heard that it was such a fascinating country. Now you have finally been there, did India met up to your expectations? And, did you had time for sightseeing and visit some of its cultural highlights?
6 On your album ‘China Girl’ you were searching for your Chinese roots and your Chinese-ness! Is your search completed or is it still on your mind? Will we ever see a sequel to ‘China Girl,’ perhaps in the form of collaboration with Chinese musicians? What are your thoughts on that?

7 Recently you were photographed on various occasions wearing Chinese style clothes. Did Shanghai Tang design these clothes, and are they made out of silk? What does silk represent to you; is it luxury, comfort or both?

8 Your career lasts now already for far more than a decade. Do you collect newspaper cuttings and photos from magazines and photo shoots of yourself? Many celebrities do so, so we are wondering if you do it too?

9 Maybe a too personal question but what did you get as present from Lionel? What did you plan to do on the day of your birthday? Please skip this one if you consider it none of our business, but we sure hope to get some idea.

10 Finally, do you have a personal message for your best fans? We hope for some quotable statement from you!

I did not receive feedback from Vanessa-Mae yet, but expect that to happen somewhere next week. I will report Vanessa-Mae's feedback asap as i get it. So keep yourself posted to this space to read all about her answers to us all.

As always, a good work, Rijko!
I sincerely hope that Vanessa read carefully our message and be noticed that a lot of people is thinking on her every day, in the wide world.
her music, through the years, has been a nice way to build wonderfull friendships between peoples from different points of the earth, and it is, for itself, a great acomplishment!
If we start to count the years of her career from her first records, there in 1991, then she is professionoly with the music already 16 years! I think that she could feel that she already have done everithing, and then now she can work a bit less than in the past years, when she did houndreds of performances. Nobody of us knows certainly what will happen in the next years with our beloved violinist, if she will give us a lot of concerts for all the world, or just a couple of performances in a year...but a thing is sure: we allways will be gratefull for all that she already have given to us. From now to forward, all that she will do must be seen as a gift for us, her fans!
