Vanessa-Mae in 'The Making Of Me'

Post by Xanthippe »

Vanessa-Mae will be one of the subjects of the new BBC series 'The Making Of Me.' The BBC will broadcast the program in 3 episodes starting on Thursday July 24 with a weekly frequency each Thursday. The program has a scientific approach and tries to answer the question what factors determine success: Genetics? Natural talent? Hard work? Luck? Social background and upbringing? Or Was it Me! The program will explore the life and fate of some famous talented people like Vanessa-Mae, Olympic silver medallist and 110m hurdles world record holder Colin Jackson, and actor and television star John Barrowman.

I will record the shows on my hard disc recorder and will report here on all dealings in the program with Vanessa-Mae. Of course, I have no idea yet how much of the program will deal with Vanessa-Mae's career.

The episode with John Barrowman is on July 24, Colin Jackson is on July 31. I suppose the final episode on August 7 will deal with our precious and charming girl Vanessa-Mae.

I saw the 1st episode of The Making Of Me last thusrday. Each episiode deals with one celebrity. The first delt with John Barrowman, and the second one this coming thursday will deal Hurdle specialist colin Jackson. Our Vanessa-Mae is the leading figure in the third and final episode to be be aired on Thursday August 7, 2008, see:

The Telegraph

I will tape this episode with Vanessa-Mae on my hard disc recorder, and report here in this forum on that. I am willing to deliver copies to anyone interested.

John Barrowman was looking for an answer on why he is gay. Colin Jackson seeks to answer where his talents for running came from, and our Vanessa-Mae investigates her musicality.

Hi Rashida, of course I can get you a copy.

I saw the show and it was very interesting and somehow very emotional too when it came about the relation between Vanessa-Mae and her mother. Vanessa-Mae was very nice and gorgeous as ever, of course.

I will start preparring my review, with many screen caps, tomorrow evening after work. Sorry, I can't do it any faster.

To get an impression already, see The Daily Mail and The Telegraph that both had a preview in their today editions.

The Making of Me

Post by Barkybook »

For those who know usenet / newsgroups, someone posted Vanessa Mae The Making of Me on 7Aug08 in the alt.binaries.multimedia group. Looks to be on many servers, including giganews and easynews (requires subscriptions) but also have free trials. Check your own ISP news servers. Xvid avi format and very high quality.

I use Newsbin (also free trial) to search and assemble binaries. Don't mean to sound like a commercial, only to communicate an easy method to watch this great video of Vanessa Mae.

It is so nice to see so much of Vanessa being her wonderful self.

Happy to upload to anyone you may have server space like we used to have here.

According to The Guardian, some 2.9 million people in the UK saw the show with Vanessa-Mae. I noticed an exceptional increase in number of visitors to my website around the broadcast and the days after the show. Although subdueing, the visitors numbers are still above average significantly.

I recorded the show and wrote an extensive report that is available at my website at Vanessa-Mae: The Making Of Me. I used 140 screen captures to illustrate everything. Here are 3 interesting captures as example.

The first one shows Vanessa-Mae when she is undergoing a test to measure communication lines between various parts of her brains (emotions in relation to mototric functions)

The second one shows Vanessa-Mae with 11 year old child prodigy Elena, who she visited in Chicago.

The third capture shows Vanessa-Mae with her former tutor professor Felix Andrievsky, who told her she was an original talent far beyond her years already.

Finally in the show, Vanessa-Mae concludes that during the first parts of her training, both her mother Pamela and father Graham were full time lawyers and had no time whatsoever to monitor her progress on the violin. She was left alone with her devices and her nanny. So, a firm basis was layed already when Pamela started to guide Vanessa-Mae and to push towards perfection.

Pamela refused to cooperate with the documentary and to appear in it as consequence. However, Vanessa-Mae underwent an extensive personality test and at the end she is surprised by the psychologist that her mother Pamela had agreed to do the same test. Personality profiles of Vanessa-Mae and Pamela turned out to resemble eachother to an unprecendented degree, being really an example of: so mother, so daugther!

Vanessa-Mae turned out to significantly higher in being extrovert (she performs well under presure), concisioness and openness towards experimenting. She is highly competitive and seeking extreme perfection. Vanessa-Mae admits that she rather do less to an level of perfection, than much of lesser qualitiy.

According the psychologist, the combination of all these elements made Vanessa-Mae's transition from traditional classical musician to the artist combining all kind of musical styles she is today, possible.

As Vanessa-Mae said: 'I do not seek to be controversial, but somehow end up being controversial'
