Today i received a (long awaited) email from Sony.
Sony has informed me that our Noodles Official Sony forum was
closed down because she is no longer a Sony Masterworks artist.
Does this mean she is changing or has changed labels?
It may also explain why her Choreography tour was cut short?
Vanessa-Mae no Longer a Sony Masters artist!!!
Re: Vanessa-Mae no Longer a Sony Masters artist!!!
It's also quite possible that the reason she's no longer a Sony Classical artist is because her next album won't be classical (from Vanessa-Mae's comments earlier this year about her forthcoming 'pop' album). Judging from the relatively few public appearances and a tour that was cut short, it is also conceivable that the album hasn't been well-received. Even I myself found this particular work to be the weakest out of all her albums she's worked on to date. Most of the music was forgettable, at least to me. If this was indeed the case, then Sony might have opted to dissolve their business relationship with Vanessa-Mae -or- the contract was only for one album, and Sony, Vanessa-Mae, or both, decided not to renew/extend it.Arioch wrote:Today i received a (long awaited) email from Sony.

Whomever she winds up being with, I hope the management does a better job of keeping her fans in the loop. Sony did no better than EMI has with keeping her site current. I know that there are quite a few American labels that would love the chance to collaborate with talents like Vanessa-Mae, but such a deal is unlikely as she has ignored the U.S. for years now.
I would also like to ask how come we haven't heard anything more regarding Vanessa-Mae's new pop album. If I remember correctly, she said something about it being released this summer. But first things first, we should find out if she is signed to another label or not.
I do not know what this means that Vanessa-Mae's message board is closed because she is not a Sony Masterworks artist anymore.
She is still officially listed as such, see:
http://www.sonybmgmasterworks.com/artis ... index.html
Of course, it is possible that the artists listing of site has not been updated yet.
But in addition, not all the artist have a message board, see Hillary Hahn for example:
http://www.hilaryhahn.com/
The Winton Marsalis message board is off line just like Vanessa-Mae's forum there:
http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/Wynton ... ndex2.html
We will ask Vanessa-Mae about her new album of course. We have to wait and see what she comes up with.
I only read once in a German online newspaper that had a short interview with Vanessa-Mae about a new album that would come out this summer or autumn. I have no idea how accurate this was: it could well be only a rumour. The rumour was never confirmed by any other source. There were never official announcements from Sony nor from Vanessa-Mae herself that a new album was about to be released soon.
We all know how this goes. Time frames for recording new albums and release schedules are often adjusted.
Maybe, Vanessa-Mae just needed more time.

Hilary Hahn is no longer with Sony. She's now with Deutsche Grammophon.Rijko Ebens wrote:...But in addition, not all the artist have a message board, see Hillary Hahn for example:

I did some reaerch on this issue. I knew already that end 2004 Sony music labels merged with BMG to form a world wide record company Sony BMG Music Entertainement, see:
http://www.sonybmg.com/
This site lists a number of labels that belong to the new company formed by Sony and BMG.
Sony Classics, where our Vanessa-Mae had signed just a year before, now operates under the name Sony BMG Masterworks, see:
http://www.sonybmgmasterworks.com/
Vanessa-Mae is still listed in the artist section of Sony BMG Masterworks, see:
http://www.sonybmgmasterworks.com/artis ... index.html
From a few reports that I found, I conclude the new record company Sony BMG Music Entertainement reshuffed the artists over the several labels to get more focus for the various world wide operating labels. Besides these lables, Sony Masterworks operates in several countries in local companies to distribute national artists for domestic markets. In this policy, Sony BMG Masterworks should distribute pure classical artists world wide acclaim. Since Vanessa-Mae is not classified as a pure classical artist, a re-assignment to one of the other labels of Sony BMG Music Entertainement seems to be a natural choice.
In all my searches, I did not found any information regarding the place of Vanessa-Mae in this all. It is very well possible that she is now listed in one of the other companies belonging to the Sony BMG Music Entertainement group. Of course, such a re-assignment needs mutual agreement or the contract needs to be terminated by one of the two parties, Vanessa-Mae and Sony BMG Music Entertainement.
I did not find any indication that Vanessa-Mae is not with Sony BMG anymore.
