Gallery 41 Vanessa-Mae at the World Music Awards on April 14, 1997 in Monaco
In 1997, Vanessa-Mae received international acclaim and recognition at the World Music Awards in Monaco on April 17 with the award for 'Best Selling Classical Artist' for the unprecedented success for her Classical Album 1. In Monaco, Vanessa-Mae made a great impression, not only at the ceremonial evening when she performed Toccata & Fugue and for the way she spoke her acceptance speech, but at all events held during this prestigious award celebrations with her appearances as only 18 year old young girl wearing a great variety of unique and beautiful costumes and wearing obvious considerable make-up on her face. Photo 1 shows Vanessa-Mae at her arrival at the venue on the red carpet dressed in a multi-colour Issey Miyake coat with crimson collar - note Vanessa-Mae's heavy eye make-up. Photo 2 till photo 7 show Vanessa-Mae during her performance, accepting the award, addressing the audience and gratefully receiving ovations. At the ceremonial evening, Vanessa-Mae was dressed in a blue very short dress with vertical glimmering stripes and around her waist a belt that consisted of metallic rings tight together with small connection, matching blue shoes. Vanessa-Mae had two necklaces, one with a fine precious stone and one with a silver cross and her face was covered with a smooth pale foundation crème and smouldering eye make-up with heavy dark brown shadow and lots of black liner and mascara. Photo 8 and photo 9 show Vanessa-Mae at the closing gala evening wearing a fabulous long black dress. Photo 9 clearly shows Vanessa-Mae's perfectly complexioned visage completed with pink lipstick, heavy eye make-up and with excessive black accentuated brows.
