Today I was looking through the VMF site and ran across a few posts about Ayumi Hamasaki, that was posted back in Jan.21, 2008, about her loss of hearing in one ear. I researched her on the net to see what the outcome was. It seemed to show some loss in her other ear also. Since it was brought up in the Forum that it could have been caused by the in the ear, ear-phones that performers use, and the high volume speakers used during performances. I am concerned that our Vanessa-Mae might become susceptible to this problem also. In the video of "The Making of Me", she was shown to have exceptional hearing, above the average. Any loss of her hearing could be detrimental.to her playing. This would be a tragedy to HER and also US. I know first hand the effects of wearing a head set. I have had to use one at work for about 15 years. Fortunately it was a one sided head set, because I have lost most of my hearing in the right ear. but the left is still not too bad.
I hope this never happens to Vanessa.

I am sure that she realizes the dangers earphones have. Hopefully it will never affect her hearing ability.

Xanthippe,
I believe you are right, at least I hope so, for I know the effects of partial hearing loss. Vanessa maintains herself in physical and mental good health, so she should be taking care of this also.
May she play forever !
