The Daily Mail on May 12th of this year had a list of 5 credit card spendings of our Vanessa-Mae with her comments that she recently had made that period. Her is the text of the article:
VANESSA-MAE, 26, is the world's most famous female violinist. She has sold more than 10 million records - her latest album is called Choreography - and has been named as one of the world's most beautiful people. She plays London's Royal Albert Hall tonight (tickets: 0870 444 5556).
Vanessa-Mae was born in Singapore, but now lives in Kensington, West London, with wine expert Lionel Catelan.
20/04/05 Flip flops [pounds sterling]28.50
ALDO, KENSINGTON HIGH STREET, W8
I'M ONLY 5ft 3in tall and on stage I wear high-heels. But in my daily life, I wear trainers in winter and flip-flops in summer. I'm Oriental and in my part of the world people live in flip-flops, so I feel very at home in them - I've got very flat feet so I don't need arch support. I have about six pairs, and this time I bought some leather patterned ones. But because the weather has not been too good, they've mainly stayed in the cupboard.
02/05/05 Ice-cream maker [pounds sterling]299.95
SELFRIDGES
YOU can tell I'm getting ready for summer! My father introduced me to home-made ice cream and I love what he makes, particularly rhubarb crumble flavour.
I vowed that this summer I would make my own, so I bought this big, self-freezing Gaggia machine. I haven't started using it yet, but I'm looking forward to it once the weather warms up. Despite liking ice cream, I'm still almost the same size and weight as I was when I was 16.
19/04/05 Dinner for two [pounds sterling]125
LE CERCLE, WILBRAHAM PLACE, SW1
I TOOK my boyfriend for a belated 36th birthday meal at this French restaurant. We ordered lots of little dishes, including baby squid, skate wrapped in herbs and roast duck breast, and my dessert was chocolate fondant.
08/05/05 Violin strings [pounds sterling]54.80
KENSINGTON CHIMES MUSIC, SOUTH KENSINGTON, SW7
I USED not to change the strings on my acoustic violin, which was made in Italy in 1761, more than once every six months or until they broke, because I was lazy and stingy. But now I do it once a month.
Sometimes the strings go twang during a show and the audience have to wait while I change them - I keep them entertained by cracking jokes.
15/04/05 Birdcage [pounds sterling]430
ANIMAL FAIR, ABINGDON ROAD, W8
APRIL 11 was the sixth anniversary of my relationship with Lionel, and we were going to celebrate by buying a pair of lovebirds, but still haven't got them yet.
However, I did buy this lovely cage for them, and it's waiting to be inhabited in the summer.
I already have a cockatoo cage, but if I put lovebirds in there they'd escape through the bars. I have a budgie cage, too, but my big black dog ate my budgie two years ago!
I really find Vanessa-Mae so funny and cute when she tells about the things she did. As I understand, she really likes to eat ice cream and she went out dinning with Lionel to eat quite a lot and with chocolate fondant as desert.
Vanessa-Mae and Lionel were togehter already for 5 years on April 11th this spring!!
