According to the following CNN article, Vanessa-Mae is "changing styles" :

http://asia.cnn.com/2002....ex.html

Does this mean she won't be composing or arranging songs along the lines of "I'm A Doun" or "Bach Street Prelude"? I surely hope not because I love that style of music from her.

Vanessa-Mae goes on to say "I'm going to try to more clearly define what's classical and what's fusion" - so does it mean the "pop" songs will feature more vocals along the lines of White Bird or Embrasse Moi? With the release of "Best of.." it kind of confirms my fears.

Or does it mean she will be composing her own works? No more adaptations of previous works?

I'm terribly confused ???

Hi pal,

I have scanned an article that appeared in a local paper 2 weeks ago. You'll probably find some answers in there. I'll ask Rijko to upload the articles for you guys.

I have added the article in the 3rd zip file with photos of the press conference. See my latest post in that specific topic.

I think that Vanessa-Mae will compose more of her own pop music, alone or together with a producer as Youth. Subject to Change is the first album of this series.

Is that a career move? Well you can see it that way, but I merely define it as a natural course in her development as person, violinist and musician.

Translating famous classical pieces of music into modern music (acoustic fusion as she call it) made her famous and rich, but keep doing this would not be any challenge for Vanessa-Mae anymore, I suppose. I can't imagine that she would stop playing fascinating pieces like Storm, I Am A Doun, Art of War, Toccata&Fugue, and so on, and by this exclude enjoyable music loved by her audiuences form her concerts.

Vanessa-Mae has said that she would probable sing more on future pop albums, but the violin will always be her first love. She has also said on numerous occasions that classical music is her heritage and she enjoys playing it so much; it will keep playing an important part in her life and career.

Next year will, we will see the release of a new classical album and in 2004 a new pop cd is scheduled.

Vanessa-Mae stated that she will separate classical music from pop music in the future and that she will be doing either a pure pop or a pure classical tour of concerts.

I am very glad that she is developing as an artist. She always did, from the start of her career on. The Violin Player, Storm and Subject to change are all complete different albums.

I expect so much from her in the future. It is really interesting; Vanessa-Mae is interesting as person annd as artist.

Thanks Rijko that's a very interesting and assuring perspective. I'm glad for Vanessa-Mae that she's really developing as an artist and she is now in full control of her career. The fact that she is now willing to compose her own work is a huge and daring step IMO and shows her maturity musically and career-wise. I look forward to hearing the 'new sound'.
