Which record label would you like VM to join? - Her contract with EMI has ended

Just kidding, actually it would be awful if Vanessa would perform with these rap stars! I think Vanessa is something unique - awesome performer! She has her own style, and if she keep doing what she do, I will be always happy!

Hey Rijko,

For what it's worth, I got to see Eminem's tour bus on fire a few weeks ago (actually I didn't see the flame, just drove through the smoke via an overpass, heard a few popping sounds). FYI ... no one was hurt.

Btw, I have this strong feeling that she would sign Sony Music. Many of her good friends, like Michael Jackson, Charlotte Church, and Coco Lee etc. are with Sony. And if she wants to be real pop, Sony is a good choice.

I hold nothing personal against rappers like Eminem. They simply do not appeal to me.

She can use beats of course, but not in a way that it becomes hip hop music.

Rijko, when did you become vanessa's manager, or vanessa herself? She can use the beats if she wants, she can record a "hip-hop" cd if she wanted, it would be her decission. I'm just saying, it would be interesting to see a collaboration between N.E.R.D. And as i said before, it wouldn't have to be hip-hop, they've done pop stuff as well, and i think a remix by N.E.R.D. would be something worth listening to. Also, for someone who says they dont listen to "hip-hop" music, how can u say it is [poor and noise]? I understand that is your opinion, but I also think you should give it a listen before you really have an opinion. Its what a lot of members of this forum did when bond debuted.

No of course I am not Vanessa-Mae's manager. I was just expressing a preference and my confidence in Vanessa-Mae that she will make something good out of every choice she makes.

Vanessa-Mae decides with whom she will work together. I respect her choices, whatever she decides. She said at the beginning of a concert that I attended that she wouldn't tell us what she was going to play that night, but she asked the audience to trust her that it would be great music.

I always trust her in that. It is all over in all my posts in this forum and in the previous forums.

Unfortunately, my decision has come to this..

If here next album is not released in the U.S., I will not purchase it period. For the last 6 years, I've had to put up with broken promises of visitations to America. In the last 6 years, Vanessa-Mae only had 1 concert in the U.S., a classical concert that took place in Denver in Feb of '97. The rest of her appearances have been promotional tours. Now, it's gotten worse, Subject To Change was not released in the U.S., but get this: It was released in Canada as well as Mexico.

I refuse to spend my hard-earned money supporting an artist who doesn't give my country the time of day, only mentioning it in passing. Yes, I know that her record company/manager are in charge of making decisions on where she plays. But still, the final decision is hers. If she wanted to perform in America, she can do it with no problems. Glenn (owner of vanessamae.com) told me about orchestras here that have extreme interests in performing with Vanessa-Mae, which he forwarded to her management. They were all ignored. Just like her latest pop album, the U.S. (fans) were totally ignored.

Hi Benji,

I can completely understand your dissapointment that STC has not been released in the USA so far, and that Vanessa-Mae hasn't visited your country either.

But I don't think that she can't be hold responsible for the release policy of EMI in the USA with respect to her albums. Maybe the EMI office in the USA doesn't see an interesting sales perspective for Vanessa-Mae's STC cd.

STC was released here in Argentina a few weeks after the first world release (I think it was in Asia, and if i'm not wrong, Daisy was the first person who got the album). Anyway, I was pretty surprised when i saw the album in the record store. STC promotion = null. But EMI put all her albums (just not early years) in Argentina.

Benji, 6 years isn't that bad. She has many fans in HK. Yet, we have waited for 5 years. Why so long then? I don't know, but one thing is sure, people here still love her. I'll have my finger crossed that once she has signed a new label, things would turn out much better.

Well personally i feel like this...

Vanessa Mae hasn't been to America...ok...I prefer she would visit do a concert or tour or somethin, but then i think...how popular is Vanessa Mae...REALLY (in America)? not. so It would be like Vanessa starting over with American audiences. I personally think that if she had released STC in America as the CD, to sorta spin her back into American audiences, it wouldn't have been a good choice because STC is in my opinion not something that would go over well with American audiences, no matter how much promotion and touring she got. Which is why I think she should wait for her next pop CD, before she starts to (if) enter America.

Even as a fan, I'm not willing to dish out the money to have a lot of her CD's imported, which is where she losses sales with her already established American fan base. But I'm not gonna get all up in a frenzy like Benji, and refuse to buy etc...

You also can't blame Vanessa for what her EX

label distributes, she has a say of course, but she doesn't have the FINAL say.

Daisy started this topic with the statement that some Taiwanese websites reported that Vanessa-Mae had end her contract eith EMI records.

Since then we have treated this as a solid fact.

But do we have any confirmation from other sources about Vanessa-Mae leaving EMI? In other words: is it a fact indeed or just a rumour??

Hi Rijko, my view is that since those taiwan websites (in fact more than two) are not some gossip pages but are websites promoting her "Best of", we can to some degree believe what they say about the contract is true. Of course we would like to see some confirmation from her, but looks like most of us do wish her to change label anyway.

The future will tell us if it is true, or not.

Sometimens newspapers (and websites too) just rely on what others say and present it again as if the news is fresh, but in fact there is only one source.

Why did no one ask her about this in one of her press conferences?
