Vanessa-Mae's definition of classical crossover

Post by Xanthippe »

I found an interesting article that was published in the magazine for classical music 'Musical Opinion' October 2004. The article provides an interview of Judith Monk with Vanessa-Mae.

Judith Monk describes meeting with Vanessa-Mae as follows:

Meeting her was a delightful experience; in the flesh she is tiny, graceful, elegant and extremely beautiful; a true flower of the Orient! Poised and self assured, it was easy to see that although still only 25 this young lady had packed a great deal of living and success into those few years while retaining the virtues of modesty and integrity.

During the interview, Judith Monk asked Vanessa-Mae to define classical crossover music.

Vanessa-Mae said:

"Crossover music stems from a classical heritage which is ambitious to embrace contemporary influences."
