As most of you all probably know, our Vanessa-Mae played with Janet Jackson in the title song on 'The Velvet Rope' album. 'The Velvet Rope' was released by Virgin Records in 1997. Virgin Records is part of EMI Music.

I am not a fan of any member on the Jackson family, but this Saturday I decided to buy this album because it features Vanessa-Mae. I had the specific track already as mp3 but in order to complete all features of Vanessa-Mae, I found it necessary to have the album in my collection.

I never listened to the track quite extensively before, but now I actually start to like it a lot. Vanessa-Mae's part is weird, but very interesting. Her violin sounds to end more like an electtric guitar, which by no means is intended as such.

What do others think of this track?

Velvet Rope CD: Its a good CD, it was different than anything Janet had done previously, its like an inward journey kinda thing.

Velvet Rope Track: I like Vanessa's part, I actually think its one of the best things shes done, because it has more edge to it.

The album Velvet rope is quiet dull, full of JJ just trying to act hard and sware a lot. Some tracks are ok, like Together Again and Go Deep, but most of the others are so dull I can;t remember them.

As for the Velvet rope song :D It's okay I guess but its not my favorite. It's best for the Vanessa-Mae bit, the rest is filled with inendo lyrics, which just bored me.

Yep!

Theres this one song were she just rants f*ckin this and f*ckin that all the way through the chorus. I can;t remember what the song is called but the verses' are balledy with beach noises in the background and the chorus is rocky.

"everytime" is my most favorite song in that album.

vm and janet didn't have the chance to perform "velvet rope" together live.

Guess I'll have to listen to that CD again.

BTW: Vanessa and Janet didn't exactly 'work together'.
Janet was ill and couldn't fly back to the studio during Vanessa's "one day" at the studio here in the USA. So Vanessa worked with the producers and spoke to Janet on the phone to lay down her contribution track.

The only song you could be referring to is "What About"

That is one of my favorite songs on the CD. It has a good message and Janet isn't ranting "f*ckin this and f*ckin that all the way through the chorus"

listen to the song and get the meaning of it. ???

True Glenn, I've read that story too that Vanessa-Mae and Janet didn't actually met during the recording because of Janet's illness.

I remember that Vanessa-Mae said that she was rather disappointed by this.

Since then, I never read anything that Vanessa-Mae and Janet did met at some occasion. At least, our Vanessa-Mae never said such thing in an interview, nor was it reported in any Vanessa-Mae related article. Also, there are no photos of the two together.

Did I miss something on this? Does anyone know more facts on a possible meeting of Vanessa-Mae with Janet Jackson?

Well I guess at some point that they would have met, to disscuss the album production but appart from that I dont think so. I don't think that they are mates or anything.
