VM lable - is EMI for real or what ???
Moderator: zeta
I went looking over at EMI site to get info on a new release of Bach's work and decided to check out what they had on our little Vanessa.
To my surprise she was not on the artist list over at EMI classics, heck, her albums released under EMI classics are not even in the catalog, even a search by catalog ID turned up nothing. If you do a google search you might stumble uppon what seem to be an old left over bio page, that page does not even appears to be liked by EMI pages.
Whats up with that ?? I mean, is that a way to showcase a world wide known artist that sold millions of albums ?? Not only does EMI not adequaty provide support to her online presense, but they dont even showcase her on their own site for crying out loud :drgrr:
This is truly a shame... How can she allow this?

The first www.vanessa-mae.com link that I am aware of pointed to her Classical Collection Part 1 page at EMI Classics.
There is a rumor that VM is no longer with EMI.
Also, anyone notice that this EMI Classics site was designed by GetFrank (original designers of the current www.vanessa-mae.com link). IMO, very bad design that www.EMIClassics.com opens a second window that doesn't even fit my 800 x 600 screen.

EMI are in a lot of difficulty so, they are dropping acts like there is no tommorow. Also VM's greatest hits did not sell that well (although it it made 9 on classical chart over here, it failed to make the top 100 albums, the reason for this EMI is becuase you released it 4 months after the initial Euro release date, so everyone who wanted to buy it probably either imported in or got it off Kazaa!) :drgrr:

There is one answer to that... bad management. If they are in difficulties all the more reasons to invest in those who have a proven track recrod and global recognition.EMI are in a lot of difficulty so, they are dropping acts like there is no tommorow
Too bad they might be dragging Virgin records down with them.
I hope the rumor she quitted EMI is true.

Yes Joe, I found out that the website of Vanessa-Mae was designed by GetFrank.
I sent them an email and received a nice reply for the manager. They designed the site, but are in no way involved in the maintenance that is done entirely under the supervision of EMI. EMI is fully responsible for the lack of any update.
We expressed our concern about the website in birthday greeting to Vanessa-Mae. She replied that the site would soon be placed under a manegement more closely to herself. Maybe all the uncertainty around this has something to do with talks between EMI and Vanessa-Mae to re-new her contract.
I have searched the EMI sites thoroughly for information on Vanessa-Mae. None of her albums are in the EMI Classics catalogue. Vanessa-Mae is signed to EMI in general to record albums in all divisions. The classical catelogue lists only artist that are signed to EMI Classics specifically.
EMI Classics provided a full biography at the time of the release of the Classical Collection prt1. They also placed info on the site for the release of the'Best of Vanessa-Mae' album.
Here are links to pdf files with this EMI Classics material:

I sent an email to GetFrank again last week to ask them whether they are still involved in our Vanessa-Mae's official site in any way. I also asked if they had any knowledge about a re-design of the site.
I received again a nice reply. GetFrank has no involvement whatsoever with the site anymore. They designed the site on request of EMI only. Also, they have no knowledge of any redesign and change of management.
They fully understand the fans frustration regarding the lack of activity on the site and they forwarded my message with our concerns to Vanessa-Mae's support team for the site.
