Quite an interesting label for our Vanessa-Mae, imo.

Some links indicate some kind of relation with Sony Music, see as an example:

.... don't see the need of calling up EMI again since their publicist has confirmed that Vanessa MAE is DEFINITELY not with them anymore...

thanks for the info with regards to Rob Dickins. He is working on something with Vanessa but probably not with Instant Karma.

Hi wuchenen,

I'm in need of the contact details for a different matter in which
I have PM'd you about, and not so that I can validate the info
that you have given us.

by the way arioch not that emi contact is any precious and I didn't want to give it out, but it will just a waste of time. about her website? I don't think they want to know anything about her.

And I haven't given you any info. that is not true and you should have your own mean to "validate" it, but I am sincerely in saying this now - it really isn't necessary.

She has a new management company now but as I said in the private message to you, if she wants to be found her publicist would have announce it by now (new record company, producer etc.). so if she wants to be left alone I think we should all respect that.

The biggest clue leading to me thinking that she may be dropped off the EMI group, is the release of a best of... album. Okay I know its been 11 years since her first recording, but EMI are famous for releasing Best of's... to forfill an artists recording contract, when they want rid of them. For example they did this with Lousie (who made no secret of the fact), and Eternal (Easter and Vernie wanted to leave EMI for Chrysalis, and the future plan before Kelly left, was she would appear under liecence). Also Mariah Carey had to allow a best of... album to be released when she split from Columbia/Sony, when she left for Virgin.

Record companies are dumping non-performing artists when they are found to not be making money for the record company. I believe Vanessa makes/made money for them but my guess her contract/obligation was complete and EMI may not have been willing to negotiate on Vanessa's terms so she chose to go her own way. This is my guess.

I assume wuchenen is correct and that Vanessa-Mae has left EMI indeed.

This can't be a too big surprise for us, since there have been rumours about this for quite some time.

Glenn is probably right and the contractual obligations of Vanessa-Mae have been completed and no agreement on terms a new contract could be established. I am sure that for both our Vanessa-Mae and EMI the collaborartion has been very successfull, commercially, financially and espacially for Vanessa-Mae in her artistic development as well.

We have criticised EMI quite a lot for the lack of promotional support and the bad job they did on the presentation of our girl on the internet. But we also have to admit that Vanessa-Mae had all the possible opportunities to do and record whatever she wanted. EMI gave her a lot of trust and space for this all.

Still the question remains to what label Vanessa-Mae is signed now. EMI will not disclose anything on that, naturally.

But I expect some news from the new label and Vanessa-Mae herself soon. Or maybe, they just wait for the new album and start an intensive promotinal campaign around their collaboration and the newly released cd.

I am just very curious about the motives for Vanessa-Mae to change to a new label.
