Is this board always so silent
There's not discussion here.. since many days.. is it common or something strange is happening?
Hi Giollo,
Unfortunately yes, this board is very quiet the past year or so. I started many new topics with news and ideas but hardly anyone is replying, sadly enough. People read new posts and then it stops.
I ran out of ideas to change it and have more or less accepted it as a fact!!
This forum started in the summer of 2000 and at that time members were very active resulting in about 6000 posts before the end of the year. We changed server two times since then and the post count started at 'zero' again one or two times. In total I think, we have about 15000 messages posted since the beginning in 2000.
This past yerar of 2004, I don't think we had more than 1000 messages posted.

It is a shame that our Forum has gone quiet again, i think what we need
is an open section to this forum a section that is dedicated to other types of
music where members can discuss other artists and other concerts that
they have seen?
Our Forum seems dedicated completely to our Noodles and this is the
reason why the forum goes quiet, If Vanessa is not on the scene then neither
are the fans.
Maybe Aventine can add a new section dedicated to other types of music
and the performers?
Until then we wait for our girl to start performing.
Any one else got any ideas how to bring our forum back to life?

In fact I joined this forum seen that she's not so famous hoping to have a more direct contact to her... expecially because I'm a violin player and I admire her skills and I really think that she's the best player ever....
So I hoped to have the opportunity to talk to her... but it's not so (I'm not an insane dangerous guy with cruel intentions... I'm even married and happy)
what a pity... if there's not way I don't think to stay here much more than some day else or I'd just come to check this forum out if I'm looking for something (like the music sheets) particular...

A lot of other members feel the same way and have also given up, andI don't think to stay here much more than some day else or I'd just come to check this forum out if I'm looking for something
left the forum, Even my dear friend Glenn has given up and she was
1 of the closest people (next to Rijko) to Vanessa now she has better
things to do than visit the forum

We think that this forum is dead?
Sony's Official Vanessa-Mae forum is completely dead just like how EMI's
Forum went.
Sony or even Vanessa-Mae's staff aren't bothered about it. once again
Vanessa and her team have broken their promises

They need to learn how to care about the supporters and to realise that
we exist!
I have emailed Sony time and time again to get it sorted and i get no reply.
I even emailed Fretless about the merchantdise that they are selling,
and it seems that they are not interested in selling.
Once again we are getting the Vanessa-Mae-EMI treatment

It is an illusion to think that Vanessa-Mae will come here and talk directly to her fans. She is a very reserved person and in general not very approachable to her fans.
This is her choice and we should respect that.
This forum exists for fans to communicate with eachother and talk about Vanessa-Mae, to share expereriences, ideas, opinions and material, virtually talk about everything related to Vanessa-Mae.
We have already an off topic board and that is not used either.
We have an outburst of messages form time to time, but each time members slip into inactivity again.
I have no illusion this will change ever.

Apparently, the website and all possible communication with fans from there does not have the priority of Vanessa-Mae.
I just hope that there will always be some fans that like to communicate with colleague fans.
There are a lot of fans out there - see the number of views for new topics - who are interested to read the posts here.
Moreover, I update my website frequently with news and facts and new items and I see from my webstatistics that many visit the new pages and updates.
Only, hardly any feedback is given by visitors; the same holds here in this forum: many read the posts but hardly any takes the time to reply!

They made a rule about having to have a certain number of posts to access the goodies section. But I think they said they didn't want people to just post anything so they could get enough posts to qualify. This scared me off because I didn't want to be seen as just posting for the sake of gaining access, so ironically I stopped making very many posts. To me, it made it sound like if your post wasn't really stellar, then you shouldn't bother. Maybe this scared off other people too.
tomm,
you certainly qualify to access the 'goodies' section. just send a pm or email to aventine and she will grant you the access to the 'goodies.'
i just hope anyone jjust posts messages to participate in this forumand tell us have they feel about our Vanessa-Mae.
no one should feel restricted to post for any reason. everyone's opnion is more than welcome! so, please join in the discussions!!

I understand your thoughts and feelings Tomm,
the minimum No of posts was set up because some members
were posting adverts and multiple posts of the same subject,
and others would make a post i.e. to say hello then do a follow
up post to add to the previous post instead of using the edit button.
Personally i don't think it was aimed at people making (off) topics
about other subjects in fact i think that more members should
partake in creating (off) topics.
Any one can open a topic in this section (General Discussions) on
any subject, except subjects containing adult material.
Why not chat about your favourite Films, Hobbies, Places you love
to visit on your vacations, or Pets this is what the General Discussions
is here for so any members want to chat about NON Vanessa-Mae
Subjects get on posting.
Just remember NO Adverts & NO Adult Material. this Forum is after all
open to all ages so keep it clean!

I imagine a lot of people don't post because they don't feel they have anything to offer in general. Many people in the forum are musicians themselves, and can therefore offer more knowledgeable opinions on Vanessa's playing style, technique, etc. For those who don't play, I imagine many get scared away.
Honestly though, I think this forum does a good job of trying to mix it up and have topics that everyone can voice an opinion on. You certainly don't have to play violin to post on most topics.

I guess i m ur typical VMF member who's level of activity is fluctuating aloth... Altought i checkin almost daily I havent spoken mutch in the last 6 monhts.
I guess the level of activity is directly proportionnal to the number of newbies we have around, its their questions and request that make this board buzz. When only the veterans are about there isnt mutch to discuss except for a comment about a new video or public apearance.
