I have sent another email to the NPG Music Club to express my dissapointment. Again I received a prompt reply. They told me that all material of Prince so far has been released in within 4 months, only no date has been set yet with respect to this particular album.

so this info seems rather serious and we can expect the album to become available somewhere in the Spring. Let's keep an eye on the site of the NPG Music Club.

I think that you can also keep an eye on sites like Amazon, since this should be a regular release to the public. The NPG release seems similar to when EMI distributes promotional CD's to select individuals.

Those who did download were requested not to share, and so far it seems to be working.

I also emailed NPG, but perhaps not at the same address.

I asked if they could provide a brief sound sample for the VM fans. I also asked about a possible single designed for VM fans.

On the lighter side, I may have found Xhalation on the Internet. I am downloading now. If it is Xhalation, I am going to try to not offend NPG by just posting a location. Can we conceal this to ourselves (like Glenn storing it, and giving out the location only by PM)?

It is 2:03 long. Very slow. VM starts at about 35 seconds in. 256Kbps. 3.78MB in size. MP3 format.

Yes I agree with joe_mate (Posted,11:29)
I have known this to happen with other Groups/Artists.
I.e. Genesis, Queen, David Bowie and I think Metalica?
It is a sort of a preview, the fans get first listen. It is so
that they can get a response to the New material to see if
it will go down well with the public.

See It does Pay to be a Member of a fan Club???

By what we are seeing with the amount of Guests we seem to be getting.
They must be impressed with our Gorgeous Vanessa!

I also sent an e-mail and recieved the same bad news!
But if they can see the interest generated by other persons
i.e. By us Vanessa-Mae's fans,
They may get-to thinking Um? $$$$$$$$$$

If you want to listen to an MP3 track from the NPG Music Club MP3 release that features Vanessa then please PM Me.
Do NOT post or share it.
Note: the file is mildly damaged to thwart tradability value.
Sorry.

I thought it was intentionally made to sound this way.

Oh well, another situation that doesn't make sense. Mildly damaging, yet setting to 256Kbps. How about normal sound at 22Kbps (wouldn't that be easier)?

???

Arioch, you are probably right about Xpectation... In the past all except one of the NPGMC albums has been released to retail. I expect that this one will too. And some club members who are unhappy with the club are sure to release it on file-swapping programs like Kazaa, so you should be able to find it fairly soon if you're into that sort of thing.

Actually, the One Nite Alone box set is available in stores right now, but I still haven't gotten mine from the club yet! It's a bit backwards... Oh well.

Cheers!

Vanessa's contributions to the Prince Experiment are Tracks 1, 3, 6 & 9. If you want to hear them PM me.
I put a clean (non corrupted) copy of track 1 up.
BTW: PM (private message) is accessed by clicking on the little envelop icon below this message

Hello All,

I have been having a discussion with a French Prince fan,
Laurent Calhoun http://www.calhoun-square.fr.st/
I was offering to him what I thought a Prince fan, new to Vanessa-Mae may wish to explore to discover what Vanessa-Mae may have to offer.
I thought the forum would be interested in this.
Below is my comments and Recommendations:
==================================================
Thank you Laurent.

It is good when such diverse artists meet and explore musically together. It offers both the artists and their fans an opportunity to discover new things about themselves and expand their musical horizons, often in areas not previously ventured.

I am sure many Prince fans have now discovered Vanessa-Mae and I know many Vanessa-Mae fans have discovered Prince; each I believe looking into either artist to discover more about their music and the enjoyment it may bring to their lives.

For Prince fans who would like to get a update as to exactly who Vanessa-Mae is, they may wish to watch the most recent Vanessa-Mae promotionam video and get her latest "Best of Vanessa-Mae" cd which comes bundled with the essential VCD.

For Vanessa-Mae fans, what might be a good, "introduction to Prince" CD? (tough question I know).

Thanks for the dialog. Glenn

Hello All, Part 2

I have been having a discussion with a French Prince fan,
Laurent Calhoun http://www.calhoun-square.fr.st/.
His Prince site, In French, offers a great deal of information.
We were discussing what CD's a person new to Prince should explore if they wish discover what Prince has to offer.
I thought the forum would be interested in this.
Below are his Recommendations:
==================================================

I'm glad that you express some interest into Prince's music, and surely the work of Vanessa Mae has been brought to Prince's fans attention.

(please apologize for my average english sometimes, i'm not completely bilingual yet ;-) )

Well, Prince's work is a incredible amount of music pieces to discover. There are many ways to enter into Prince's world.

First of all, Prince is an incredible musical talent. Extremely gifted, he can play almost all instruments (excepted for violin and saxophone, see what i mean?) and records most of his albums only by himself. He's also a fantastic showman, and on stage it looks like he reincarnates all the greatests : James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton, Carlos Santana, Wilson Pickett, and much more. There are so much energy and diversity into only one artist that it's sometimes difficult to follow his new directions in music. That's why many fans discuss his work for hours, and people from different musical horizons are involved into Prince's music.

In the 1980's he was a huge star, and between 1983 and 1988 he entered at least a single a year into the Top 10.

In 1993 he decided to part ways with his record company (Warner brothers) and become an independant artist. He founded a new label, NPG Records, and started to release more thematic or unusual albums, and although he is not into the medias and showbusiness anymore, he releases more interesting music than before. Starting in 1996, he uses the internet to give music directly to his fans, while still releasing CDs into the market. In 2001, he opened the NPG Music Club, a subscription service which for 100$ a year you are offered new mp3 downloads, prefered seats at concerts and exclusive CDs sent at home.

The "Xpectation" album is part of the 2002 membership, and sincerely i don't know if Prince plans to release it on CD one day. Also, it was recorded in the beginning of '02 and so it's already one year old now. I think Prince has recorded 3 or 4 new albums since then LOL. So why would he release it in april '03? anyway...

Now if you want to discover a bit of Prince's music here is what i can advice.

I think you should start by the newest material. Prince has just releasing in december '02 a stunning 3-CD box set, "One Nite Alone... Live" which is a brilliant demonstration of Prince's live work. It was recorded in march and april 2002 during the american part of the tour. Also, Prince's band includes legendary saxophone players Maceo Parker, Najee and Candy Dulfer. Songs includes some Prince classics, new songs, and under-rated old songs turned into incredible jazz pieces.

This tour came right after Prince's latest studio release, "The Rainbow Children", which is without a shadow of doubt his greatest work since the early 90's.

For the more older Prince, you can check the 1993 Warner compilation "The Hits / The B-Sides", which includes all the greatest singles and the best of his singles b-sides.

According to majority, his best album ever is the double-CD "Sign O The Times' released in 1987.

In a larger way, all his work from 1982 to 1988 is impressive.

For more information, if you speak french you can visit my website, otherwise feel free to send me an email at:
calhoun*n_o-Sp_am*@freesurf.fr and i'll try to respond your questions. (Remove the *'s and between to reply )
