RE: How I Discovered Vanessa-Mae; My Personal Odyssey.

Post by CarrollTowerCX »

I have always liked classical music as far back as I can remember.

And now, though there were 3 or 4 computers in the house, belonging to my son and daughter, I did not have one of my own until October, 2009. You see I had sworn I would never have one of the Damn things, but times and people change.

So while searching thru the myriad of sites, looking for videos of classical organ performances. I came upon " Musical Animation Machine".
One of the videos posted was, Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. On the right side of the screen as always, was a list of other related videos.............And there was Vanessa-Mae,completely unknown to me at the time. But now, without a doubt, my favorite violinist. It had formerly been the great Fritz Kreisler, but no more !

In this, the very first video of her, she played the Toccata and Fugue. I was intrigued and impressed with her performance. The ease with which she played, her confidence and style.

Another plus for me was the fact she was Asian, you see my wife of 39 years is Korean.

Now that is how I personally found Vanessa-Mae, without doubt the best, most stylish and energetic violinist ever to be seen !

May she play forever !
