Vanessa-mae's performance in Happy Valley on the rather windy night of 30 June 1997 was seen on TV by millions across the world. Just counting the Chinese community alone, the number is mind boggling: 1.3 billion in China, 6 million in Hong Kong, 20 million in Taiwan, and at least 50 million Overseas Chinese scattered all over the world.
Images of that performance were later incorporated into the Happy Valley video and must have accounted for at least half the length of the video. This implicitly makes VM's Happy Valley video probably the most watched music video in the world!
Music videos by Michael Jackson and J Lo might have sold in record numbers, but videos are about visual and images, and in this respect the images from the Happy Valley video were seen by more people.

I think that the 'Happy Valley' video portrays our girl Vanessa-Mae as a real cosmopolitan woman of the world. The very original and vibrant music expresses feelings joy, happiness and optimism.

This all makes it a brilliant video. I absolutely like Vanessa-Mae's wonderful red dress and extremely heavy make-up that all looks fantastic on our girl.

Can you imagine all the nerves and excitment she must have felt. I mean this is never going to happen again. She was there the night it happened. I have a friend from HK, I wonder if he was there?
