For the past many years, it has been quoted that Vanessa-Mae has sold 8 million albums. If it was 8 million years ago, then how many has she sold by now???
Well here is a clipping that says a different total. This is from late 2012 or early 2013.
This number is more like it!
The 8 millions sold albums refers to only The Violin Player and this number stands from 1996-1997, I think. I read a number for the VP of 11 million once. The Classical Album 1 sold 500,000 copies in a few months time in the UK. That are the only numbers I ever read, and these numbers have never been confirmed by her label company (EMI), but they sound reasonable looking at her chart presences all over the world. Storm will have done well too, as probable The Original Four Seasons. China Girl was not such a big seller. Choreography, I really have no idea
The 40 millions in this clipping sounds unbelievable. On the other hand, Vanessa-Mae is very popular in Asia (China, Hon-Kong, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea) where quite a lot of people live. There are absolutely no sale figures known from this part of the world for Vanessa-Mae: so 40 millions might be possible afterall???
Maybe, she is much richer than the 35-40 million UK pounds mentioned in the annual rich in the UK list suggests.
I believe the higher number, because the 8 million was 16 to 17 years ago. Her albums are still in the record shops here. I did not find Vanessa until late 2009 and was able to purchase a number of her albums at several chain record shops , Barnes & Noble and several others. Check the record count for Shakira and others. I think Vanessa-Mae has done it and probably more.
