Glenn, thanks for your posts regarding your communication with Laurent.
I too think that it is great to see a collaboration between diverse artists like Prince and our Vanessa-Mae. I have noticed substantial activity of guests visiting this forum - maybe Prince fans!!! Hopefully many fans of Prince get to be interested in Vanessa-Mae and develop into real fans eventually.
These exchanges of information and relations between groups of fans is one of the nicest achievements of the internet
IT'S AMAZING!!!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoy jazz music, and i'm absolutely happy that Vanessa is part in this jazz project! Saxophonist Candy Dulfer has a nice (and 'easy') vocabulary for jazz improvisation and Vanessa's "vocabulary" is not the adecuate for jazz music (it's more like a classical vocabulary, of course), but she does it very well. Thanks GeminiTO and big "THANKS" for Glenn!!!
Basically, my short review on the V-M tracks:
T1- Xhalation: This remainds me V-M's "Tourmaline". This is not jazz, V-M palys alone with some slow keyboard rhythm on the backgrounds. Regular.
T3- Xemplify: This's my favorite, and it's Jazz music !! Vanessa plays duet with saxophonist Candy Dulfer. It is not common to hear a saxophone and a violin playing togheter at the same time, but Candy and Vanessa did it very well!. At the middle of the song, there is a very small but fabulous solo by Vanessa. Very Good.
T6- Xogenous: Another great song! Again, you'll hear Vanessa's violin a playing duet with Candy's saxophone. Easy music, nothing spectacular, but the adecuate to sit back and relax. Good.
T9- Xpedition: The name says it all. Unfortunately Vanessa has not much room in this piece to express herself. Good.
the rest is more like a kind of experimental music and I'm not used to it. But again, i'm so happy that Vanessa took part in this jazz session. Honestly, this's nothing brilliant, and Vanessa's apparitions are quite shy, but i this is a very nice beguinning. Thanks Vanessa, I really love this!
